'95 4Runner SR5, so you are pretty close.

3.slow. But I can't complain. With the exception of their plagued gaskets, they are pretty much bulletproof. The gas mileage is only slightly better on the 22RE as well. It's worth the sub-20 second 0-60.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:18 |

It goes NNNNRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR when you go past the number 5. Also, yes, that is about 16-17 mpg. Urban gridlock sucks.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:30 |

Yeah, they get a bad rep, but I still find 3.0s with well over 200k quite often. Probably owned by people who were proactive about the head gasket problem.

you, I've actually thought about that...the rules of the road apply to well..the road, right? So is it ok to lanesplit in a parking lot, as an example? Its not a street....

Not the greatest picture, but it's the best shot I have of the metric gauges in my '91 Comanche.
Underneath the glare is the temp and fuel gauges.
And because it exists, a closeup of the speedometer. This was a while back. Present day reading is 498,xxx km.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:51 |
|
It's good though. Haven't got any issues with mine since 2004, all "problems" were caused by bad techs really, they forgot to plug the mirrors back in at one time, and while rust proofing, a drill poked out the sunroof drain on one side.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:53 |

None of my pictures, but all my gauges.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:54 |

In this instance it would be perfectly fine, as it was just my and CrzRsn's toys arranged in my driveway. Legally, I'm sure some cop could find a way to ticket a motorcyclist even in a parking lot, but (and I'm no lawyer) if it's a private lot, you should be able to contest it.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 18:57 |

I know your own driveway is w/e. I was wondering because through out highschool, I'd always lane split past a 30 minute lineup to get out of the school parking lot and then id just leave.

It just broke 100K miles this past month. The car is a bit sluggish before the turbo spools up, but it feels a lot faster once it does.

There was much to be proactive about. Mine have went. Once since I've had it, and once before. I maintained the crap out of it, and one leisurely day I was cruising down the interstate, and bam. Though, if you remove the factory exhaust manifolds, and A. Cut the collector off. or B. Replace them with headers, it is supposed to alleviate the problem.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 22:12 |

Not mine, my car's got the black interior.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 22:19 |

What does the odometer read as of now?
![]() 11/09/2014 at 22:23 |
|
176k, but that broke about 4k miles ago, along with the speedometer. I have the part to fix it, but while removing the old sensor, the boot broke off into the transmission. So now the old sensor is literally held in by tape, because the clip that holds it in place snapped in half.
![]() 11/09/2014 at 22:33 |
|
My 22R has 283k, also bought with a broken speedometer cable. Put in a new one but now it's inaccurate because this isn't the original transmission! Real miles closer to 290k, but god knows how long it was not working before I bought it!
![]() 11/09/2014 at 22:36 |
|
This is the transmission speed sensor that went bad on mine. Hopefully in the next couple of months I can get my parents old Volvo 240 down here so I can get it running again. It had around 300k on it when my Dad decided he wanted something with less miles on it, after the oil coming from the front seal kept drowning the alternator.

YOUR DASH! IT DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE CRACKED! PLEASE TELL ME YOUR SECRET.
![]() 11/10/2014 at 01:53 |
|
Don't worry, it has cracks. -_-
They're all up closest to the windshield though; I need to get the dash cover this winter. A dash cover will help in protecting it from the sun and UV rays
![]() 11/10/2014 at 02:49 |
|
My '84 has a plastic dash cover that I loathe. But the dash looks like hell underneath, so I've kept it for now. I'm planning to pull the dash from my parts car so i can attempt to fill the cracks and sand it all down. It'll be a learning experience, I guess...
Still, I've only ever seen one early car without a cracked dash. And it had sat inside, undriven since 1987.

First off, hello fellow 944 owner!!
Second, hello fellow '84 944 owner!!! :D
Third, by any chance, did I ever see you on OppositeTalk(Facebook)?
Anyways, I understand, I hate plastic covers, so I'm going for a suede layover cover.
I've never seen anyone repair a cracked dash before, sounds tedious and interesting; if you go through with it, please post it! I'd love to see your progress.
It's very hard to find an original uncracked dash, that's for sure; mines not that bad though:
I have a couple more, but you'll only see them if you look for them.
Now, tell me about your cars sir. :)

Your dash looks surprisingly nice for an '84! Mine's pretty cracked, all over the place. But I've been given some tips on how to repair the cracked dash, and I saw a guy redo an entire E30 dash. So over the winter I'm going to give it a go.
I've never been on OppositeTalk. I spend most of my time on Rennlist. The best place to find other 944 (or any Porsche owners).
